What are the steps for the installation of step stone construction?

The construction and installation of step stone mainly involves the following 5 steps:

Main construction technical measures:

1. Grassroots treatment:

Before stone construction, carefully clean the debris such as ground ash and floating ash on the ground base layer, and use a steel wire brush or flat steel shovel to clean it. Before construction, apply a layer of cement slurry bonding layer to the ground. Grassroots treatment should pay attention to meeting the requirements of construction conditions. Considering the need for decorative thickness, the ground should be moistened with clean water before formal construction, but there should be no accumulated water.

2. Snap line:

Draw a vertical cross-control line at the center of the site to check and control the position of the stone slabs. The cross line can be snapped on the ground and to the bottom of the wall. After marking the cross line on the ground, mark the stone grid line according to the stone specifications on the ground.

3. Pre laying:

Firstly, strict selection should be made for the color, texture, geometric dimensions, and surface smoothness of the stone according to the design requirements of the drawings, and then pre-laid according to the requirements of the drawings. Adjust and exchange possible errors in the pre-laying process until the best effect is achieved. At the same time, it should be noted that light-colored stones and stones with lower ground density should be coated with isolation agents on the back and all sides to prevent water absorption during stone paving from affecting the surface aesthetics of the stones.

4. Paving:

Binding layer: Before laying the mortar, clean the base layer thoroughly, then use a spray can to sprinkle water and brush with plain cement slurry.

Laying mortar layer: Determine the thickness of the leveling layer on the ground according to the horizontal control line, and control it vertically and horizontally with a cross line. Stone tiling should use 1:4 dry and hard mortar, which should be thoroughly mixed and evenly mixed before construction. Lay the mixed dry and hard mortar on the ground and compact it with a gray board. It should be noted that the width of the mortar should exceed one-third of the width of the stone, and the thickness of the mortar should be about 3-4 mm higher than the horizontal elevation. The thickness of the mortar should be controlled at 30mm.

Paving stone: Before paving, wet the board in advance and let it dry in the shade for later use. First, conduct a trial laying, align the longitudinal and transverse joints, use rubber to tap the wooden board, compact the mortar to the laying height, move the board to the side, check whether the surface of the mortar matches the board, and if there are any voids, fill in the dry and hard mortar before formal paving. Pour a full layer of plain cement slurry bonding layer with a water cement ratio of 0.5 on the mortar layer. When placing it, all four corners should be dropped simultaneously. Use a rubber or wooden hammer to lightly tap the wooden board, use a level to control the paving elevation, and then install it in sequence.

5. Wiping seams:

Grouting and pointing shall be carried out 1-2 days and nights after the completion of paving. Add mineral pigments of the same color to the cement slurry according to the color of the stone, and evenly mix it into a 1:1 diluted water slurry. Use a slurry pot to pour it into the gaps in batches or use dry cement mixed with color powder to wipe the gaps. After completion, promptly clean the cement slurry of the stone layout with cotton thread and protect it. When paving stone slabs, the joints should be tight, and generally, no gaps should be left.
