What are the precautions for installing large sized indoor stone materials? (II)

6、 How to snap the line during stone installation?

The first point is some preparation work before snapping the line.

We should first use a large line to hang the walls, columns or door and window covers with marble or granite vertically. At this point, consideration should be given to the thickness of the stone slab, the gaps in the grouting mortar, and the size of the steel mesh. Generally speaking, a thickness of 50 to 70mm is the most suitable distance between the outer skin of the stone and the structural surface.

The second step is to find the specific snap line after being vertical.

After we find out the verticality, pop the outer contour line of marble or granite along the wall on the ground. This line is the datum line for the installation of the first layer of stone, and then number the stones. Mark the positioning line of the numbered stone on the snapped reference line, leaving a gap of 2mm for each stone.

7、 How to treat the surface of stone before installation?

The first point we need to know is the inspection items for stone before installation.

The surface of the stone should be sufficiently dry to ensure that the moisture content of the stone is less than 8%, and then use a stone protective agent for the hexahedral protection treatment of the stone. This process requires to be carried out in a pollution-free environment. Generally, operations are carried out indoors in a dry and dust-free environment.

Secondly, let’s take a look at the specific operational steps for stone surface treatment.

Firstly, we need to lay the stone flat on the wooden block, dip it in protective agent with a wool brush, and evenly apply it to the surface of the stone, which must be tightly brushed. After the interval of 24 hours after the completion of the first coat, use the same method to apply the second coat of stone protective agent. If cement or adhesive is used for fixation at this time, after an interval of 48 hours, special adhesive should be used for roughening treatment on the bonding surface of the stone. The roughening adhesive can only be used after it has solidified to its strength.

Thirdly, let’s take a look at the requirements for grassroots preparation.

Before installing the stone, it is necessary to clean the structural surface of the stone that needs to be decorated, and at the same time, hang the wire and square it, find the rules, and snap the vertical horizontal line. According to our requirements, pop up the installation line and separation line for the stone.

8、 How to bind lead wire or copper wire when installing stone?

The first point is the requirement for binding with lead wire or copper wire.

It is required to take stones according to their positions, and then straighten the copper or lead wires to place the stone blocks in place. Tilt the upper edge of the stone slab outward, extend your right hand into the back of the stone, and tie the copper or lead wire at the lower edge of the stone to the horizontal steel bar.

The second point is to tie with lead or copper wire, which should not be too short and should have a margin.

At this point, the stone slab can be erected and tied with copper or lead wire at the top of the stone slab.

9、 What are the specific requirements for stone installation?

Firstly, after the stone installation is completed, we need to use a ruler to check the vertical and horizontal direction to find the squareness of the internal and external corners.

When installing stones, if it is found that the specifications of the stones are inaccurate or the gaps between the stones are uneven, a rubber pad should be used to firmly fix the gaps between the stones. This can make the gaps between the stones even and keep the upper opening of the first layer of stones vertical and straight, thus completing the control of vertical and square.

Secondly, we need to look at the treatment of stone gaps.

You can use a bowl to mix plaster and paste the plaster into a paste shape between the top and bottom of the marble stone. In this way, the two layers of stone can be integrated, and gypsum can be pasted at the sawdust area. Then, a ruler can be used to check for deformation, and grouting can be carried out after the gypsum has hardened.

10、 How to grout the installation of wall stone?

Firstly, let’s take a look at some requirements for grouting materials.

The grouting material is cement mortar with a mix ratio of 1:2.5. Put these grouting materials into a bucket and mix them with water to form a paste. Use an iron dustpan to scoop out the slurry and slowly pour it in, taking care not to touch the stone. While grouting, gently tap the stone surface with a rubber hammer to allow the mortar to be poured in for ventilation.

Secondly, let’s take a look at the specific requirements for grouting.

The height of the first layer of grouting is 150mm, and it is not allowed to exceed 1/3 of the height of the stone slab. The first grouting is very important because the copper wire at the bottom of the stone also needs to fix the decorative strip panel, so it needs to be operated gently to prevent sudden collision and pouring. Once any stone displacement is found, it should be immediately removed and reinstalled.

11、What are the other requirements for wall stone installation?

The first requirement is to wipe the seams.

After the installation of all the stones is completed, we need to remove all traces of gypsum or grouting. At this point, a cloth can be used to wipe it clean, and then a color paste can be prepared according to the color of the stone slab for caulking. When caulking, we need to wipe it clean while caulking to ensure that the key to the gap is even and the net color is consistent.

The second point is some requirements for column veneer.

If we install the stone on the column surface, the installation sequence of the bullet line drilling red holes is actually the same as that of the wall surface. The key point to note is that the treatment of the gaps on the columns also needs to be carried out according to the method of wiping the gaps.
