Do You Know How To Install Marble?

Whether it’s large office buildings, star hotels, and villas, we can see very beautiful stones in the external walls, interior, and courtyard. Then you will be very strange. How do these exquisite stones be installed? In this article, let’s talk about stone installation.

For the four kinds of stone installation methods: dry hanging, wet pasting, wet hanging, and dry pasting, what are they applicable to? Which installation method should we choose? Today, We will take you through the process analysis, cost control, the process of these three aspects of comparison to solve the problem of stone installation, in the end, should use what process.

● Analysis of dry hanging process

Stone dry hanging is the most familiar stone installation process in our work. Next, we analyze the specific methods and precautions of the dry hanging process from the two aspects of process and specification

1. What is the dry hanging technology of stone?

It is a kind of technology that the slotted stone is fixed with the wall through the base skeleton and then hung on the skeleton with dry hangers. General installation process:

a. The vertical channel steel is fixed by galvanized steel plate, expansion bolt, and wall.

b. The transverse angle steel and the vertical channel steel are welded and fixed.

c. The dry hanger is fixed on the transverse angle steel.

d. Finally, the slotted stone is fixed on the dry hanger.

2. When do you need to use dry hanging stone?

Because the stone dry hanging steel framework takes up too much space, it needs to reserve at least 80mm thickness. Therefore, for many small spaces, designers are not willing to use the dry hanging process to install the stone. However, in the specification, when the stone dry hanging process must be used can be specified:

(1) In the technical specification for natural stone decoration engineering, article 5.1.5 says as follows:

When the weight is more than 40kg, the single block area is more than 1 * 1m or the indoor height is more than 3.5m, the wall and column surface should be hung with stone.

(2) When there is no corresponding case beyond the specified scope, it shall be determined after an on-site demonstration by professional consultants.

(3) In terms of stone thickness, the requirements for dry hanging are as follows:

a. For natural marble, mirror, and fine panel, the indoor thickness is greater than or equal to 25 mm, and the outdoor thickness is greater than or equal to 35 mm.

b. When the wall height is less than or equal to 6m, the stone thickness can be greater than or equal to 20mm.

c. When the wall height is greater than 6m, the stone thickness is greater than or equal to 25mm.

d. Marble panel should not be larger than 1.2 m2.

● Analysis of wet hanging process

1. What is stone wet hanging?

Wet hanging is a common method in the national standard atlas. Its specific method is: cement mortar is used as the paste material for the base course, and the board is hung first and then the mortar is poured.

The specific process is as follows:

a. Pull holes on the back of the stone, and iron bars in the horizontal and vertical directions are fixed on the wall with iron rings.

b. Use steel wire or lead wire to go through the hole of stone and bind it with the transverse bar of the wall.

c. Grouting in batches, such as grouting every 1m high.

2. What scenarios are wet hanging suitable for?

This method is often seen in textbooks or standard atlas, but it is rarely used for the installation of indoor stone. On the contrary, it is more used in the construction of external walls.

Analysis of stone dry bonding process.

The Stone dry bonding process is one of our stone installation processes, which has also been mentioned.

What is the dry bonding technology of stone?

In the case that the base cannot be stained with water, only dry bonding can be used. As we mentioned in the process node improvement plan, the bar needs to control the cost and speed up the construction period, so the structural adhesive is used to bond the stone directly.

This form is mostly used in fixed furniture and small space. As long as the base is smooth, the stability of the structural adhesive is very good.

Analysis of wet paste process

What is the wet paste process? The stone is fixed on the plastering layer by leveling the plastering layer and then using cement mortar or mortar as the adhesive. Wet paste from the process, there is no big difference, its quality depends on the choice of adhesive materials.

The common adhesive materials used for wet sticking on the market mainly include mortar and cement mortar. So, when should we use mortar? When to use cement mortar? Let’s take a look at their respective advantages and disadvantages

a. There are many problems with cement mortar: in current projects, it is rare to use cement mortar to paste stones or ceramic tiles, because there are many problems with cement mortar, such as making stones return to alkali.

b. Cement is stronger and stronger

c. Slime finish thinner

Therefore, in most of the actual construction projects, cement is used as the adhesive material.

No matter what kind of installation method, first of all, we must ensure the safety of construction, secondly, the integrity and perfection of the overall effect. The best thing is to ensure that the quality problems are not easy to appear in the later stage of stone. In short, a good installation method will play a very important role in the use of stone.
