In recent years, with the improvement of stone mining and processing technology, the amount of granite has accounted for a large proportion of the amount of stone. Moreover, granite is hard, wear-resistant, well-proportioned in design and color, bright in luster, and good in weather resistance. It is the best choice for outdoor decoration materials. However, due to the crystal structure of granite, rich trachoma and fissures, and high water absorption, it is easy to hide dirt and incrimination.

Especially when the surface of granite is made of some rough surfaces by nonpolishing treatment, such as burning surface, lychee surface, etc., the micropores on the surface of these stones are open, and the paint, paint, cement slurry, etc. in the construction process are easy to form deep or strong adhesion pollution when dripping on the surface.

Dust, oil stain, fruit juice, and color stain in daily life are also easy to absorb and penetrate. At the same time, the mineral composition of granite is relatively complex, especially the iron composition of some light-colored granites, which often rust under wet conditions, is shown on the surface of the stone, that is, block yellow spots. So, how should we carry out routine maintenance on granite?

1. Daily maintenance of granite
The application environment of stone is also the living environment of people, so it will inevitably be polluted by people’s daily work and life. If juice, coke, color stain, oil stain, hand stain, dust, etc. If these common pollutions cannot be removed in time, they will leave stains on the stone that are difficult to remove after a long time, and some will damage the luster of the stone surface. Therefore, it is necessary to clean or clean the stones in these polluted environments frequently and even assign special personnel to clean or keep the stones frequently on some special occasions every day.

If wet liquid dirt is found on the ground or wall, it shall be wiped with paper or cotton cloth with good water absorption in time. If it is oily dirt, wipe it with absorbent paper and cotton cloth as soon as possible. If these contaminants still leave permeable stains after wiping, they should be cleaned with corresponding cleaning agents depending on the nature or composition of the contaminants.

For the maintenance of large areas of the stone floor, the following tools can be considered: grab handle type scrubber, water suction machine, abrasive brush, dust pusher, mop, towel, etc. The use of the scrubber can greatly improve the working efficiency and cleaning effect, and the use of the water suction machine can timely clean up the sewage on the ground that has been cleaned.
However, it is worth noting that when using dust pushers, mops, and towels, it is strictly prohibited to use them with water or with high humidity.

On the one hand, the stone is prone to some pathological changes when it contacts with too much water; On the other hand, the ground that has just been wiped with water is relatively slippery, and pedestrians are easy to leave footprints; Moreover, the ground wiped with water looked clean at that time. When the water dried, the dust remained on the stone surface, which was the main reason why some floors always felt gray after being wiped with water.
Therefore, the daily cleaning of the stone floor should be combined with pushing and wiping. Push, dry push, or make the cotton dust push slightly wet, or spray a little vacuum cleaner on the dust push, so that the dust and sand on the ground can be removed in time. Wipe is to use a mop or towel to timely wipe the water stains and liquid dirt on the ground.

2. Construction and maintenance of granite
The construction cleaning is based on the complete performance of the decorative effect of the stone during the stone decoration construction. It is of great significance to ensure the construction quality and reflect the decorative effect. It is usually carried out during the stone installation process or after the overall completion.

However, most constructors simply remove the construction waste and peel off the dust attachment on the stone surface after the completion of the project. Some glue stains, paint, oil stains, residual cement, and other pollution that is difficult to remove during the construction are either not removed, or some strong acids and alkalis are used for cleaning, resulting in consequences that are difficult to remedy. Physical and chemical methods shall be combined for construction cleaning.

If the construction site is divided into walls and ground, the cleaning operation should start from the wall. First, use tools such as a shovel and rag to peel off the residual cement slurry, paint, glue stains, paint, and floating ash on the wall, and then use various corresponding cleaning agents to clean the remaining residual dirt, such as using rust remover to remove rust spots on stones, and using oil remover to remove paint and pigment pollution on stones. Finally, use clean water or add some curing agent in clean water to wipe the whole stone wall surface once or twice with a rag.

The construction cleaning process and steps of the ground are basically the same as those of the wall, and the same is from coarse to fine. Finally, in order to improve the working efficiency and cleaning effect, you can use a scrubbing machine to clean the ground as a whole. During the cleaning process, you should use a water suction machine to absorb the sewage left on the ground in time.

3. Cleaning of special stains
The surface of granite is subject to some common pollution and stains from people’s daily life and work, such as oil, ash, and unknown dirt. For common oil stains, some detergents containing surfactant formulas with higher or weak alkalinity or neutral alkalinity can be used to achieve ideal results. For ash deposition and some unknown dirt, some weak acidic cleaning materials containing surfactant formula can be used for cleaning. When cleaning, first pour the cleaning agent on the working surface, brush it with a slightly harder brush, soak it for about ten minutes, then scrub it back and forth with a brush, then clean up the dirt, and then scrub it with clean water many times. Of course, the previous cleaning process can be repeated according to the situation.

Rust spots are occasionally seen on granite. There are usually two kinds of rust spots. One is caused by external rust pollution, like the rust on the iron advertising frame on the granite wall eroded by rain; The other is caused by the further oxidation and diffusion of iron compounds in granite when it is damaged by water.
For the former, some weak acid rust removers can be used to obtain ideal results. For the latter, due to the reason of the stone itself, if the rust spots on the stone surface are simply cleared, the stone will show rust spots again in the future when it is wet.

In this case, on the one hand, some composite formula rust removers with good performance should be selected to remove rust spots, and at the same time, iron oxides can be converted into inert components to prevent rust change in the future. At the same time, after the rust spots are removed, the stone should be waterproofed in a timely manner, because too much water is the main inducement for the stone to rust.

If the paint or pigment drops on the granite, in addition to the adhesion surface, there is still some penetration into the shallow surface of the stone. At this time, the thin blade shall be used to peel off the thin layer of contamination on the stone surface before cleaning, and then the selected cleaning agent shall be used for cleaning. For the selection of a cleaning agent, if you have the same or similar cleaning experience in the past, you can directly select and use the corresponding cleaning agent according to your experience. Otherwise, you should try to make appropriate choices and trials, but remember to abuse and misuse.

When used, it can be wiped or soaked according to the situation. When removing the paint or pigment on the wall, since the liquid cleaning agent is easy to flow on the facade, it should be removed by pasting or using some paste cleaning agent. However, no matter which cleaning agent or method is used, it is better to try it out in a small area in advance, and then use it in a large range after determining the effect and dosage.
