When we have chosen to use stone as the bathroom shower floor, we need to consider how to do it. What are the practices for using stone as the shower floor?

Firstly, we need to understand the basic requirements for using stone as a shower floor.
1. A stone base strip needs to be made at the entrance and exit of the shower floor, which is mainly used for water blocking and glass partition;
2. One side of the floor drain in the shower room needs to be lower than the other sides to facilitate water flow;

3. The standing position for bathing should be significantly higher than the side where the floor drain is located and the other side where water flows, with a board thickness of one layer to facilitate water flow and prevent water accumulation;
4. It is possible to choose one side for water flow, multiple parties for water flow, or circular water flow.

The method of making stone foundation strips on the ground is relatively simple. Generally, three 60mm wide flat plates are combined into a U-shaped shape at right angles, and they are installed upside down on the ground, requiring horizontal installation. The water flowing on the ground is usually a smooth flat stone surface, with a size of around 60mm to 100mm, which can meet the needs of water flow. The specific width depends on the size of the shower floor, and the installation requires a slope to facilitate water flow.

There are quite a few methods for treading on the ground, including one-way 3mm wide 2mm deep and shallow knife slot, two-way 3mm wide 2mm deep and shallow knife slot, one-way 10-30mm wide 6mm deep and wide Roman slot, two-way 10-30mm wide 6mm deep and wide Roman slot, acid washed hemp surface or smooth surface, and then laying anti-skid pads on top. Whether it is a unidirectional knife slot or a Roman slot, the direction should be parallel to the direction of the shower nozzle, so that the direction of the foot can be ensured to be perpendicular to the direction of the knife slot or Roman slot during bathing. The foot surface can cover more slots, enhancing the anti-slip effect; Both bidirectional knife slot and Roman slot can meet the above requirements.

The spacing between knife slots is generally between 40-70mm, preferably less than 55mm, which has the best anti-slip effect; The spacing between Roman grooves is generally between 50-100mm, preferably less than 70mm, for the best anti-slip effect. In terms of reprocessing, the knife slot does not need to be polished, and the Roman slot needs to be polished again. Acid washing surface is the process of using oxalic acid to corrode the surface of the stone, causing it to lose its original smoothness and become a bumpy and pitted surface. This can also effectively increase friction with the soles of the feet and enhance the anti-slip effect.

It is generally recommended to use dark-colored stone for the flooring of the shower room, mainly to avoid the formation of stains on the appearance of light-colored boards that are difficult to clean due to the long-term use of various bathing and cleaning products such as shower milk. The floor of the shower room should be cleaned irregularly to maintain cleanliness.

The shower room is also an important place for home decoration, especially in the south where you need to take a shower every day because there is a lot of water flowing to the ground when taking a shower. If the ground is made of ceramic tiles, it will become very smooth when encountering water, and standing on it to take a shower is particularly dangerous. Therefore, many families nowadays do not use ceramic tiles when decorating shower rooms, and choose to use grooved stone – shower boards. After the bathroom has been completely waterproofed, the shower board is integrated with the ground by adding marble water-blocking strips to prevent water from flowing out and leaking. The shower board slot is aesthetically pleasing and nonslip and also serves as a water guide.

1、 Shower slot plate
The grooved surface mainly plays a role in anti-slip and can be divided into straight grain surface and grid surface according to the groove surface. The groove method is mainly divided into a “concave” shaped groove and a “V” shaped groove.

2、 Water retaining strip
There are various types of water-blocking strips, generally divided into fan type, round type, diamond type, question mark type, square type, and straight-line type, which can also be selected according to personal preferences. However, once the model is selected, the side of the sliding groove plate and water guide plate close to the water bar should also change according to its model, so as to be aesthetically pleasing.

In the shower room, stone is used, with a raised anti-slip sliding groove plate in the middle and a guide sink around it, making the spatial hierarchy more distinct and the simple bathroom more intelligent; It can also play a role in anti-slip and provide comfort to the soles of the feet. Shower rooms that use stone materials at the same time are equipped with water-blocking strips of similar stone materials to avoid disharmony caused by different materials of tiles and stone.
