How To Check The Perpendicularity Of Stone?

Perpendicularity is very important for stone products. It directly affects the quality and decorative effect of stone products. The perpendicularity of stone products is good and accurate, and the gap of product installation is small, so as to achieve the degree of complete fit. On the contrary, the perpendicularity is poor, the gap of product installation is large, which can not reach the degree of complete fitting, and the installation effect of stone products is poor.

1. The concept of perpendicularity?

The so-called perpendicularity: simply speaking, it is the degree to which the lines and surfaces of products and objects are perpendicular to each other. Perpendicularity is the maximum allowable variation between the position tolerance, the actual direction of the measuring element, and the ideal direction perpendicular to the datum

Specification plate, line, hollow column, and circular arc plate products have strict requirements for perpendicularity, and the adjacent edge and end face are required to be perpendicular to the side. Otherwise, the gap is large, or it can not be installed, and the installation is skewed. Perpendicularity inspection is a basic skill that every production staff, especially the plate cutting staff of the bridge cutting machine, must master, and it is the basis for the operation of bridge cutting machine operators. Grinding staff should also check the perpendicularity of bonding when making stone right angle bonding products, so the perpendicularity inspection is also the basic skill of ground workers.

2. Verticality inspection tool

(1) Steel tape

Tool for daily measuring the length or distance of workpiece. During a vertical inspection, the perpendicularity can be tested by measuring with steel tape, which is a method to judge the perpendicularity of stone products through measuring data.

(2) Feeler gauge

A feeler gauge is a kind of measuring tool, which is mainly used for measuring gap spacing. It is a gauge composed of a group of thin steel sheets with different thickness differences. The deviation of verticality can be quantitatively detected by a feeler gauge.

(3) Wide seat angle ruler

The wide seat angle ruler is an inspection tool that can accurately measure the vertical deviation of the inner and outer corners of the workpiece. A wide seat angle ruler is the best inspection tool for measuring perpendicularity, and it is used for perpendicularity inspection. The data of verticality deviation can be quantitatively detected with the feeler gauge.

(4) Protractor

Inspection tool for measuring the angle of stone products. The angle measurement range is 0 ~ 180 °. The digital display protractor can directly read out the angle data from the display screen with high measurement accuracy.

3. Common verticality inspection methods

(1) Wide seat angle ruler test method

The method of measuring perpendicularity with a wide seat angle ruler.

(2) Diagonal test

A method of judging the perpendicularity of a product by measuring the diagonal dimension of the product with a tape measure. This method is used to judge the verticality roughly.

(3) Splicing test method

The method of assembling four specification plates together and detecting the perpendicularity of products by observing the gap of the assembled plates.

(4) Protractor angle test method

It is a method to judge the perpendicularity by using a protractor to detect whether the included angle of adjacent edges is 90 °. When the measurement angle is 90 °, it means that the perpendicularity is good, otherwise, it is poor. The perpendicularity can be measured quantitatively.

4. How to check the perpendicularity

(1) Wide seat angle ruler inspection

There are two methods to test the perpendicularity of the Engineering slab with a 400 * 400 wide seat angle ruler: one is the “outer leaning” test method and the other is the “inner leaning” test method.

The “outside leaning” test method is to test the perpendicularity with the outer right angle edge of the wide seat square; The “inner leaning” inspection method is to use the inner right angle edge of the wide seat square to inspect the perpendicularity and wipe the surface and four edges of the tested product to make the surface free of substances affecting the perpendicularity inspection;

Check the inspection tool – 400 * 400 wide seat angle ruler or standard square ruler. If there is a calibration instrument, calibrate the wide seat angle ruler and square ruler to check their verticality; Select any two adjacent edges of the inspected product to check the perpendicularity;

When checking the perpendicularity with the “external leaning” method, close the outer edge of the wide seat angle ruler or square ruler to the tested edge, observe the gap between the wide seat angle ruler and the tested edge, and select the plug piece suitable for the feeler gauge to plug into their gap. The cumulative sum of several feeler gauge pieces is the perpendicularity deviation within the length range of the wide seat angle gauge. When the edge of the wide seat angle ruler is close and seamless with the detected plate, it indicates that the detected angle is vertical, and then another angle or opposite angle is detected.

When checking the perpendicularity with the “inner leaning” method, the inner edge of the wide seat angle ruler or square ruler shall be close to the tested edge, the gap between the wide seat angle ruler and the tested edge shall be observed, and the appropriate plug piece of the feeler gauge shall be selected and inserted into their gap.

The cumulative sum of several feeler gauge pieces is the perpendicularity deviation within the length range of the wide seat angle gauge. When the edge of the wide seat angle ruler is close and seamless with the detected plate, it indicates that the detected angle is vertical, and then another angle or opposite angle is detected.

(2) Diagonal test

Measure the length of the two diagonals of the specification plate with a tape measure and subtract the two length values. The smaller the difference is, the better the perpendicularity is; The greater the difference, the worse the perpendicularity. If the difference is zero, the verticality of the tested plate meets the quality requirements.

(3) Splicing test method

Close the four specification plates to each other and check the gap between them with a feeler gauge. The cumulative size of several feeler gauge pieces is the detected value. When the four plates are tight and seamless, and the joints are straight and on the same line, it indicates that the perpendicularity meets the quality requirements.

(4) Right angle plate inspection method

Stick a 500 * 500 perpendicularity standard plate on the inspected specification plate, make both sides of the specification plate flush with the two adjacent edges of the standard inspection plate, and detect the error between the specification plate and the standard plate. Then check the perpendicularity of the other diagonal. Only when the two corners are vertical can the perpendicularity of the plate of this specification meet the quality requirements.

(5) Protractor angle test method

It is a method to judge the perpendicularity by using a protractor to detect whether the included angle of adjacent edges is 90 °. When the measurement angle is 90 °, it means that the perpendicularity is good, otherwise, it is poor. The perpendicularity can be measured quantitatively. When measuring with a protractor, it is also necessary to measure two diagonals. When both diagonals are right angles, it means that the perpendicularity of the tested plate meets the quality requirements.
